The available 2.7L TurboMax engine also returns for 2027, but it receives an important update.
For the new model year, the TurboMax is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet says the updated TurboMax delivers best-in-class standard torque, giving Silverado buyers a four-cylinder option that still has the capability expected from a full-size pickup.

The Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel Returns
Diesel fans do not have to worry about the Duramax disappearing from the Silverado 1500 lineup.
The 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel continues into 2027. Chevrolet describes it as the segment-exclusive Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel, giving Silverado shoppers an option for those who prioritize diesel torque and long-distance towing capability.
That means the 2027 Silverado 1500 will offer four engine choices:
- 5.7L V8
- 6.6L V8
- 2.7L TurboMax
- 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel
The exact engine availability will vary depending on trim and configuration.
A New Seven-Trim Silverado Lineup
Chevrolet is also changing how the Silverado lineup is organized for 2027.
The new Silverado 1500 will be offered in seven primary trims:

The new Silverado ZR2 comes with:
- A 2-inch factory lift
- 35-inch mud-terrain tires
- Standard front and rear electronic locking differentials
- Multimatic DSSV dampers

The available ZR2 Bison Edition takes the off-road formula even further.
Developed with American Expedition Vehicles, the ZR2 Bison adds equipment designed for drivers who spend serious time on difficult terrain.
Highlights include AEV front and rear bumpers, rocker protection, 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels and additional skid plates protecting important components underneath the truck.

Trail Boss Gets a 2-Inch Lift and 34-Inch Tires
